This chateau is know as the French “Downtown Abbey”. Enjoy an unexecpected journey in a preserved château dating from the 17th century. Discover its mastered architecture and its entirely furnished rooms. You’ll travel back in time to the 19th century in the lodgings for the domestics on the last floor in the ambient of the TV serie.

This elegant chateau was build for Gilles Ruellan, a meagre seller who became close from the France king Henri IV. since 2017, this private monument is open for visitors and now considered as one of the loveliest château of Brittany.

Revive the noble and domestic life with its 12 rooms, its chapel, its amazing Renaissance gallery (the only one in Brittany) and its stables. The opening of domestics bedrooms, near of the roof, is unique in France.

You can stroll around the garden. One part is an old vegetable garden, protected by wall, where you’ll meet adorables rabbits in a Alice in Wonderland spirit. The owners are now restoring the other part, a Renaissance garden, thanks to the help of archeological excavations. The French Villandry price has been awarded to this project.

For families, a treasure hunt and costumes are provided. There is a also a secret passage to discover in the chateau !

The discovery of the chateau and its gardens will take about 1:30.

New in 2021 : A circuit in the wood of the chateau with lookout tower on nature, wooden huts and rope bridge. Outdoor activites such as outdoor treasure hunt, archery are available for families !

The guided tour (in French) are provided every day in July-August at 2.30 PM and 4 PM.


Open from the 19th of May to the 30th of June from 2 p.m to 6 p.m, every days except on Fridays.

In July and August, the château is open every days from 10 a.m to 12:30 p.m and from 2 p.m to 6 p.m.

Open on September on Saturdays and Sundays from 2 p.m to 6 p.m until the European Heritage Days (closed on Fridays). Last entry at 5 p.m.

Special opennings hours : some wednesday night on July and August, European Heritage Days in September, Haloween Event during the Octobre school holidays, and for Chrismas event in December.

For groups (More than 25 people), it’s possible to visit the château on appointement from the  1st of April to the 31th of October.

Sanitary crisis : the Château is now open to the visitors.

Our advice

During your vist, you can stop at the tearoom. Installed in the ancient kitchens, you can sample some traditionnal ice-creams.

You can also discover the chateau’s interiors during some late-night opening on Wednesdays evening between mid-July and mid-August (cancelled in summer 2021). After a theatrical visit, you’ll benefit a firework with the chateau as scenery.
