■ Couesnon Valley tour

Granite land, landscapes of showing rocks at the middle of the fields, the Couesnon Valley alternate bocage and woods, steep-sided valley and vast plains. The tour offers a beautiful journey among a variety of landscapes.

Meet a preserved nature and an authentic built heritage. Long of 80 km, this signed route will reveal some of the curiosities of ouesnon Marches de Bretagne and from the villages uphill on the Couesnon. You can make a stop in one of the numerous picnic stop or to visit a touristic site on the road.

Marches de Bretagne tour

The frontier area of the “Marches de Bretagne” appeared on the 8th century and take all its defensive aspect at the 15th century.
The fortress line extended from Dol-de-Bretagne to the Bay of Bourgneuf-en-Retz (Loire-Atlantique) going through Fougères, Vitré, Châteaubriant, Clisson… and protected the Breton dukedom of the army of the French kingdom.

The touristic route of Marches de Bretagne depart on the Villecartier forest and cross our area of Couesnon Marches de Bretagne. It presents the history of our territory, area of diplomatic meetings and of cultural, economic and social exchanges.
