Park of the chateau and church of Le Tiercent

Le Tiercent

Elegant house of the 17th century, built by Gilles Ruellan, the château is situated in an English park where we find again ruins of an old keep, unique testimony of the fortified chateau of the 15th century, built at the same place. Nearby, a lovely church can be discovered.

If you come at Le Tiercent, make a quick stop to discover the park of its chateau, built for Gilles de Ruellan, probably by the constructor of Le Rocher Portail. A way gives you access to ruins of the old tower, only remain of the medieval keep.

Nearby, thanks to the paths, don’t miss the church Saint-Martin-du Tiercent, old chapel of the château. Built on a hill and surrounded by its cemetery, the church has been restored in 2014. Four graves in granite are visible near the church, dating probably from the caroligian time.

Our advice

Le Tiercentis a very small village, numbering fewer than 200 inhabitants, but revels a very rich heritage.

A good way to discover it is to follow the hiking tour of the Tour des carrières (Tour of the quarries) !
